One of my friends from secondary school came up to visit me at the start of the year, we left school in 2004 and have only seen each other a handful of times since then as I moved away in 2007 and life for both of us got rather busy. Over the last couple of years he had developed a keen interest in photography and it was a great way for us to reconnect again!
We talked a lot over social media over techniques, and helping him come to grips with the manual controls of a camera and eventually decided on a weekend which he could come up to the midlands and I could take him to a few places around here that can be pretty photogenic.
Of course the first day we spent in the Peak District, around Derwent reservoir, it was a cloudy and pretty typical freezing day in January. The next day we went to Spern Point off the Humber estuary, the conditions couldn’t be any different, it was a brilliant sunny day and although still cold, in photographs it could have been mistaken for summer!
I only managed to get a couple of images I liked, but the company more than made up for it.
